The way the smoke from this spliff

Rises into the gentle air

Is what captivates me

Sometimes you need to rest your head back

And only look at the dark sky

With the little balls of light

The tips of the trees motivate me

To move freely with the gentle wind

I desire deeper connections

Deeper meaning in this shallow pool of life

It hurts to write this tonight

But it gets written nonetheless

The feeling for deeper purpose still radiates

Despite the need for more

You ever think about why poems ever end

As if a conclusion is ever reached

It feels beautiful to want to not end a poem

To want to leave it unfinished

Cause that means I’m unfinished

And there is more to still be living for
